Founded and operated an independent international ship brokering company from home office, developing a network of brokers, ship-owners and charterers worldwide.
Full responsibility for container vessel arrivals and departures at Moss Harbour under the umbrella of H. Schianders. Sales and marketing of freight transport services, chartering and broker activities, budget and P&L responsibility (~NOK 25M turnover), and staff management. Secured a Maersk contract for weekly feeder vessel handling from Bremen, significantly expanding container volumes in the Østfold and Oslo region.
Full operational responsibility for the Fredrikstad department serving workshops across Østfold with car parts (~12,000 SKU warehouse). Grew annual turnover from NOK 8.2M to NOK 9.2M, reduced warehouse costs by ~NOK 1M, implemented SAP across all product lines, and managed a team of ~10 staff.
Started as charterer and broker in a ship operating company serving primarily the granite industry. Vessels ranged from 1,000 to 20,000 DWT, operating Scandinavia to Mediterranean, North Sea, and North America / Great Lakes routes. Grew company turnover from NOK 30M (1990) to NOK 130M (1997) and progressed to Managing Director of Glomma Bulk AS. Responsible for chartering, brokering, bunkers purchasing, port disbursement cost control, and daily contact with ship captains and crew.
Managed daily arrivals and departures of Swissair MD80 cargo flights. Responsible for freight handling supervision, cargo reservations, administration, pricing, and daily liaison with freight forwarders and the agency market.
